Upholding Human Dignity

A Plea for Human Rights in Bangladesh

An Appeal to Recognise Human Rights in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is under tremendous scrutiny for not providing basic human rights. With the coming into power of the Awami League, the breach of dignity and freedom seems to deepen further.

Dissidents are known to be talking heads and put through arguments to be silenced. Now, they are brutally murdered in cold blood. The feeling of speaking out against power has become a horrific ordeal. Journalists, politicians and regular citizens are simply punished by being oppressed for the act of speech.

Remember when justice was something people revered? Now, condemning opponents politically has become tantamount to jailing them, crushing them and then getting the so called ‘trial’ that is no more than fantasy. The concept is only to be imagined for almost everyone in a prison set up.

Montory was once a beacon of hope. Many never thought they would need to fear violence and oppression. Their cry for justice is met with deep ignorance as the offenders go unpunished, protected by an overly blossomed culture of silencing opposition.

Regardless, there is a glint of hope: a tape of light that cannot be extinguished. It is the voice of humanity, standing up and resisting injustice and oppression. It is the undeterred willingness to defend the rights and the dignity of every person irrespective of religion or race.

Do not witness the violation of human rights in Bangladesh as mere spectators. Let us unite and fight for justice for humans suffering injustice like our siblings. We must show our support and shine a torch toward the violence inflicted on powerless people.

At the end of the day, it is not only the rights of the Bangladeshis that matter, but the matter of humanity as a whole. Bangladeshis and the rest of the world need to work together before it is too late to take action and help preserve the unparalleled virtue of humanity in Bangladesh.
